Word Dance Theater tours Greece!
On May 20, 2009 Ingrid Zimmer and Cynthia Word joined the Isadora Duncan International Institute for a 10 day performance tour entitled “Apollo and the Muses”. The performances were a unique fusion of dance, music, and poetry. Choreographies by Isadora Duncan and Jeanne Bresciani, Director of the Isadora Duncan International Institute took on the character of their remarkable settings-an ancient sanctuary, a cliffside amphitheater, and formal theaters. “The Greek god of music”, Dimitri Vassilakis, provided the music to which the contemporary dances unfolded. Franz Schubert’s Symphony in C Major was the powerful music for the Duncan choreography. Sonnets by Rainier Maria Rilke as well as ancient Orphic hymns were texts that enriched and informed the performances. The power and beauty of this experience will never be forgotten by Ingrid and Cynthia.
